I Got a Rug
Yeah, so I am the proud new owner of a rug now. How about that? I never thought a purchase like this would be blog-worthy but I really feel like it's a big step into my "adulthood".
Since I moved in to my new apartment I have been slowly furnishing it with pieces from Craigslist, garage sales, salvation army, goodwill, and of course, from my friends and coworkers who all had extra stuff. Surprisingly, my living room actually looks pretty good (in my humble opinion), even with all the hand-me-down furniture. Now once I get my new art (*wink*) up on the wall I think the place will really be quite a little pad for all kinds of debauchery...err...fun times.
The addition of the awesomely soft and delicious looking Crate and Barrel 100% New Zealand wool rug now ties my room together and I now have a great place to fall asleep while watching Gabe and Shirin's DVD of the internet they got me recently (I've been watching that Daft Punk video and that crazy dance competition kid every day now). I really felt like I had to write about this because it's probably the biggest purchase for something to go in my house that I've ever made (that wasn't a computer). Kudos to me. Feel free to stop by and rub your clean feet all over it's wonderful fibers.

Looks yummy. Bet the room is starting to shape up as well. Can't wait to see(feel) it. rb
It's funny. I know just what you mean about how a new rug can just make you feel happy.
However, Gabriel just made me re-watch Fight Club the other day and it's all about our attachment to apartment furnishings...maybe you need to get into some underground, basement fighting group to find "true" happiness! :)
I'm sorry you still haven't gotten the paintings. I've had them packed up in my car for days, but I haven't made it to the post office. I'll try to go today. I really want you to see them so I can know if you like them or not (I promise you can tell me if you don't like them). You never gave me the template, so I won't feel like it's all my fault!
Congrats on the soft, yummy rug!

While I did make her watch fight club, I also know how much better our Persian rugs make our condo look. For me it's the quickest way to make a place home. You move in and it's a cold, lifeless apartment/condo, you put down the rugs and suddenly it's as warm and inviting as Bag End. Well done, smart purchase.

Yes, I love our Persian rugs too. I have no problem with rugs...I just thought immediately of Tyler Derden. So, Brendan, I finally made it to the post office (I left class early!) so your packages are in the mailed. I have the tracking number if you want it: 03050830000250094861. Let me know when they arrive.

PS Thanks for the project...it was fun!
You should probably delete the above post just in case it's a lure to some virus.
Just wanted to say that I saw your rug on a hgtv show today in a condo owned by a couple in austin!
She said she loved it but that it was terrifically high maintenance.
